Quick Guide to Buy Your Perfect Watch

Before buying a watch check the 3 most important parts for any watch :

1- Band: either from metal, Plastic or leather, each have its advantage and disadvantage.

  • Metal Bands: most of the metal bands and watches are made from stainless Steel it is a relatively inexpensive metal that is also quite heavy duty. With metal bands you will get a nice aesthetic look while metal bands are great and attractive looking the tends to be heavy, people who have active lifestyle will likely prefer leather or rubber bands
  • Plastic or Rubber Bands: Plastic and rubber bands are commonly used with sport watches they are light weighted and have nice look. If you are an active person who loves running, hiking or swimming then go with plastic or rubber bands plus you can easily buy multiple bands as they are much cheaper compared to other materials.
  • Leather Bands: leather bands will make your watch stunningly beautiful, you can easily change the band at any time. Each leather bands have its own textures and hues which make every band look and feel different plus leather bands have long life time it can last for decades.

2- Case Diameter: Choosing the right sized diameter is as important as choosing the watch itself you don’t want to end with a small watch the will look funny on you or with big watch that will look ugly.

  • Normally Men’s watches range from 38mm to 46mm, anything bigger than 46mm starts to become too big
  • For women Anything below 38mm is good.
  • If your wrist is 6 to 7 inches you have a small to medium wrist size and you can choose between 38mm, 40mm or 42mm.
  • If your wrist is 7.5 to 8 inches in circumference, then choose a watch with a diameter between 44mm-46mm.

3- Watch Movements: known also as “caliber” there are Two types of movements Quartz and Mechanical.

  • Quartz Movements : means the watch is battery operated and watches that use this type of movement are extremely accurate and does not require any maintenance aside from replacing the battery
  • Mechanical Movements (Automatic or Manual) : means the watch does not require any battery and it is operated by the energy from the watch mainspring, this operation can be Manual which will require you to turn the crown multiple times to power the mainspring, normally you need to do this every 24 hours or can be Automatic which mean the watch will be powered through the natural motion of the wearer’s wrist this type does not require you to set the watch every 24 hours unless the watch stayed motionless for long time.
